Blazo, Berryhill Claim Top Two Spots in Women's 800 At Kit Mayer Classic

GOLDEN, Colo. – University of Wyoming track and field competed at the Kit Mayer Classic in Golden, Colo., hosted by the Colorado School of Mines on Friday. The event was moved up to Friday due to weather in the region.

 

Cowgirls Madelyn Blazo and Libby Berryhill captured the top two spots in the 800. Blazo claimed first with a time of 2:12.69 as Berryhill-Worshek finished quickly behind with a time of 2:12.79 to take second.

 

Two other Cowgirls claimed top-five marks in the 200. Ashley Wood took second in the event with a time of 26.24. Ava Morgan ran a 26.64 to take fourth.

 

Ava Morgan also secured a top spot in the women’s 100 hurdles as she finished in second with a time of 15.25. Gabby Mendoza-Molina placed third in the women’s 400 hurdles after running a 1:04.49.

 

Mac Zastrow ran a 1:54.96 in the men’s 800 to place fourth as Trevor Stephen placed fifth with a time of 1:56.89. Tristan Knueppel took eighth after running a 1:58.28.

 

Isabelle Harvey ran a time of 1:00.21 in the women’s 400 to finish in ninth.

 

Wood placed sixth in the women’s 100, running a time of 12.90. Faith Jehu claimed tenth in the event with a time of 13.25.

 

Wyoming will be back on the road next week as they travel down Fort Collins, CO, to compete in the Doug Max Invite at the campus Colorado State University.
