Cowgirl Golfers Wrap Up First Day at Silicon Valley Showcase

MILLBRAE, Calif. (MARCH 11, 2024) – The Cowgirl golfers wrapped up action on the first day of the Silicon Valley Showcase on Monday afternoon at the Green Hills Country Club in Millbrae, Calif. The Cowgirls shot rounds of 311 (+27) and 309 (+25) fir a two-round total of 620 (+52), as UW is tied for ninth place.

“This is an intimidating, difficult golf course that demands both mental and physical endurance, UW head coach Josey Stender said.  All things considered, playing against a top 25-50 ranked field, we held our own and have a chance to finish strong tomorrow.”

Kyla Wilde led the way for the Cowgirls, as she is tied for 17th place at 151 (+9). She had rounds of 75 (+4) and 76 (+5). Jadan Gonzalez is tied for 19th with a total of 152 (+10). She added rounds of 74 (+3) and 78 (+7).

“Kyla’s rounds were very calculated and steady,” Stender said.  “She put herself in a competitive scoring position which is imperative since the greens have an abnormal amount of undulation.”

Morgan Ryan is tied for 39th. She added rounds of 82 (+11) and 75 (+4) for a two-round score of 157 (+15). Samantha Spielman turned in scores of 80 (+9) in both rounds and is 46th at 160 (+18). Sophie Spiva is at 174 (+33).

Pepperdine leads the field at 573 (+5) and has a 17-stroke lead over second place UCLA. Jeneath Wong of Pepperdine leads the field at 136 (-6).

The Cowgirls wrap up action at the event on Tuesday.
